Harrisburg, PA

The Harrisburg chapter of Heeding God’s Call to End Gun Violence is an interfaith effort to eliminate illegal use of guns and gun violence. We unite people of faith in the sacred responsibility to protect our brothers, sisters and children. We believe it is vital to stand up and reclaim streets and neighborhoods where violence is taking place.

Currently we are working on five tracks:
1) Educating the public about dangers of illegal guns in our community.
2) Engaging in acts of public witness when gun violence occurs.
3) Working with gun sellers to end the illegal straw purchases of handguns.
4) Working with policymakers and lawmakers to improve laws ensuring only legally qualified persons possess guns.
5) Networking with houses of worship to implement grassroots initiatives that decrease the likelihood of community members choosing to engage in illegal gun violence such as Agape-Satyagraha, a nonviolent conflict resolution program for youth.
