Harrisburg Chapter

Our chapter meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month at 7PM. Please send an email for location details.

The Harrisburg Chapter of Heeding God’s Call to End Gun Violence was formed in 2009 to focus the efforts of the area’s faith community on memorializing the lives of victims, supporting their survivors, and advocating for effective policies to end the scourge of gun violence in our community.

The chapter’s activities include Memorial to the Lost® and Gun Violence Awareness Days, the two principal programs we rely on to promote community awareness of this issue. These programs feature speakers from a broad spectrum of the Harrisburg faith community, together with a prominent display of T-shirts with the names and dates of death of those killed by guns. Recent events have attracted considerable attention from print and electronic media. In conjunction with each event, attendees have the opportunity to sign letters to their legislators advocating for common sense and effective gun safety legislation like One Handgun a Month.

Between 2009 and 2022, the Harrisburg area 208 people were taken by gun violence. Their ages ranged from 6 to 71 years old.

We look forward to the day when a year will pass with no more victims, and we can celebrate our chapter’s success.
